If you’ve decided to take your drivers license in Sweden, you’ll need to start by practicing how to drive. You can do this by taking driving lessons here at Rattens Trafikskola, or you can practice with your own private instructor, also called supervisor.
For the latter, your supervisor and yourself need to go through a mandatory course to get a permit. This is to ensure that the supervisor is suitable to teach you how to drive. You can take the course together, or separately.
For starters, your supervisor needs a permit from Transportstyrelsen, where they clear them for supervision. The supervisor is required to have had a Swedish license for more than five years, as well as be at least 24 years old.
The course will teach you both about the responsibility you have when learning to drive. It’s meant to give you insight in legal responsibility, as well as security in traffic and traffic rules. The course is mandatory and once you’ve completed it, it is valid for five years.
